I have to give credit to the Yelp app, as there was no way I was going to find this place and be surprised. Looking for a place to have an affordable meal around this neighborhood that served Japanese food I had some places I knew from previous visits, but never ever thinking of this part of Burrard. Walking toward this location I was a little skeptical as there were a few restaurants here on Saturday afternoon that seemed to have closed for the day, or are just closed during the mid-shift and then it was there. The place wasn't busy at all, maybe someone picking up takeout and a small table of two, but that was it. We sat down, the three of us, and wondered are we in the right place... well I can say after leaving here, we did come to the right place, thank you to all who reviewed.

We sat in this small restaurant, that when you walk in seems more like a take-out sushi joint, and sat ourselves at one of the tables. The lady that was working here quickly provided us some menu's, the normal flare of sashimi, maki, cones, combos, specialty rolls, appetizers, and bigger dishes like udon and soba noodles, quite the selection from this small little place. As the people running the joint were behind the front desk after leaving us alone to figure out what we wanted to order, I started hearing Mandarin... ok so this is a Chinese making sushi joint... more skeptical, then we decided to order a few things.

From a few of their specialty rolls, one which was more on a take of a normal scallop roll with more stuff, to something that was more special than a regular BC roll, we even ordered the regular salon, tuna, cucumber maki combo, and then needed an order of yaki soba. To start with, the rolls that we had, each was done quite well, and none was 'over-riced' like one place that is up on Davie... (ahem). Each piece had great balance, from the protein fillings to the rice ratio, let alone how the rice was, from 3 people who were double guessing ourselves to ordering more food I really enjoyed all the flavors, especially ordering the regular chopped scallop roll after having the special one, and for a place that serves budget Japanese food you are getting good quality.

Talking about the yaki-soba, it came out on a hot plate, steaming away with sizzle noise. It was pretty tasty, a tad on the sodium salty side, but it was a good balance of shrimp, onion, bean sprouts and cucumber, a good filler. After looking at everything we had to eat, we called the bill over, and it was very reasonable. For the amount we got, and the quality, I would definitely consider coming back here to eat, or even ordering takeout. You won't be impressed at the place when you come in, but that maybe a good thing, as you will be impressed after you have eaten here.

I've ordered from Daikichi on a number of occasions through Foodora but my most recent experience left a horrible taste in my mouth. Tonight I placed an order for an Alaska party tray ($32 + $3 supplement for wild salmon) and it came without any wasabi or pickled ginger.

I'm generally a pretty easygoing customer but thought I'd call to let them know and see if there's anything they could do to alleviate the situation. The woman over the phone was short tempered, rude, and had no response but "uh-huh, that's too bad" which was pretty unprofessional considering the patronage I've given them over the past year and a half. In a city saturated by sushi restaurants, you'd think Daikichi would put more effort into customer service and solving client concerns. I was disappointed with the way I was treated in what was honestly an easy fix and I advise other Yelpers to stay far, far away.

Ordered delivery from UberEats so this review doesn't include the service or atmosphere of the restaurant.

If I could give my order a 0 star I would. I got the Veggie Roll Combo and Strawberry Bubble Tea for less than $15 which is a pretty good price considering the portion size of the sushi. However it was just nothing but pure disappointment. I chose those place because it had decent ratings on UberEats. But the quality was just questionable.

The Veggie Roll Combo included an avocado, cucumber and yam roll. I almost never eat my sushi with soy sauce but this time, not even the soy sauce could save the blandness of the sushi rice. Avocado seemed fresh, no complaints there but the yam was soggy and cucumbers had no crunchiness to them.

Best part was the strawberry bubble tea which was made with neon pink powder and either milk, tea or water who knows. I didn't even bother drinking it because I had found a fly swimming around at the top. I'm surprised this black bug in contrast to a neon pink drink was missed, because it was the first thing I noticed when I took it out of the bag. Luckily I was able to get a refund through UberEats but unfortunately, my experience was definitely ruined and I won't be visiting the actual restaurant any time soon. Please double check the quality of your food!

Spent more than I usually would on sushi since it was new years eve and I was having a few friends over. The sushi came warm and was pretty much inedible. In a city like Vancouver this is simply unacceptable with so much competition around. Do yourself a favor and order from someone who gets it right ALL THE TIME! You can't fix bad sushi.

For affordable sushi, this place is the best! They have ridiculously fast delivery too. The delivery man for downtown (I think he's European is awesome too. Always fast and super efficient!
